Region Renaissance

From the tower of the Church of St. James you can look down on the famous houses of Telč with their Renaissance gables and arcades lining the historic square. The center of town is surrounded on every side by fishponds that were once part of the medieval fortifications. Below the great chateau lies the extensive chateau park, and the gallery devoted to painter Jan Zrzavý is open year round. In the summer the town comes alive with cultural events – the Holidays in Telč folk festival, a classical music festival, theater presentations, and the annual market fair give Telč a vibrant atmosphere.
